The colour of the lie

The colour of the lie

Another song which was recorded was "The colour of the lie".

The song has a fairly stripped back feel using only acoustic guitar and vocals for the recording.

The verse chord sequence is Bm, F#, G and the chorus is G, F, D so the songs structure is also  quite simple.

The song was recorded live with guitar and vocals separably mic up during one take.

Learning the tracks

Hannah

Since my last post I've been learning the tracks in preparation for recording and playing some local gigs.

For the purpose of this blog i'll run through the track "Hannah" Which has been recorded.

The track is a simple ballad made up of two different chord sequences, theses being Am, G, F for the verse and F, F#/D for the chorus with the capo on the 1st fret.

On the following recording the vocals have the auto tune effect applied, this was mostly done for amusement but actually fits the song quite well.  For the other instruments used (Guitar/ piano) we plugged directly into the logic mbox and used subtle reverb plug in effects.

Update

Things are moving slowly on the tribute band, i think this is mostly because all the members including myself have full time jobs so therefore commitment and people priorities are holding the project back.

Because of this i am going to start recording some rough demo tracks of songs that i have written for a friend to drum over.  This will just involve myself initially, so i will only have to manage my own time around work.

I'll be using cubase which i have on my laptop and my jac to usb guitar lead to record my ideas and hopefully upload these shortly.

New band and rehearsing

Ive been rehearing with a vocalist most weeks building a song vocabulary and helping him with finding his range and tuning.

Practiced with a new band thats just starting up have to see where it goes and whether or not to pursue it.

Hoping to practice with the nottingham based band Overture in the next few weeks and get some gigs up and running.

Starting to teach a pupil next week on basic guitar technique such as chords (open and barred) and scales with picking technique also.
